Ingredients

For the Homemade Peanut Butter:

  • 2 cups dry roasted unsalted peanuts
  • 1 –2 tablespoons peanut oil optional
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt optional
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup optional

For the Apple Slices:

  • 2 large apples e.g., Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Fuji, or Gala
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice to prevent browning

Instructions

Prepare the Apples:

  • Wash and core the apples.
  • Slice them into even wedges.
  • To prevent browning, toss the slices in a bowl with lemon juice. Set aside.

Optional: Roast the Peanuts:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Spread the peanuts on a baking sheet and roast for 10 minutes until fragrant.
  • Allow them to cool slightly.

Make the Peanut Butter:

  • Place the roasted peanuts into a food processor or high-speed blender.
  • Blend until the peanuts break down into a thick paste.
  • Continue blending until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • If the mixture is too thick, add peanut oil gradually to reach desired consistency.
  • Add sea salt and sweetener if desired, blending until incorporated.

Assemble the Snack:

  • Spoon the homemade peanut butter into a serving bowl.
  • Arrange the apple slices around the bowl on a platter.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes:

  • Store leftover peanut butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 weeks.
  • Apple slices can be stored in the refrigerator for 1–2 days; sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • For a fun twist, sprinkle apple slices with cinnamon or drizzle with a bit of honey before serving.
